Nextcloud is the only service in my stack that depends on PHP and breaks multiple times a year because of incompatible PHP versions. Furthermore Nextcloud is solely used for file synchronization and quite overkill for that. Instead syncthing should be used.

As an alternative it could be used with docker or substituted with owncloud.
